PHILADELPHIA BOYS CHOIR & CHORALE TO RING THE OPENING BELL AT THE PHILADELPHIA STOCK EXCHANGE ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23

PHILADELPHIA – April 17, 2008 –The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale will ring the opening bell at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) on Wednesday, April 23rd in association with its 40th anniversary gala celebration scheduled for May 17 where Drexel University President Dr. Constantine Papadakis will be honored for his support to the organization. The evening will commemorate both the Choir’s 40th anniversary and its partnership with Drexel University.

More than 60 members of the choir led by music director Jeffrey R. Smith will perform on the trading floor. Musical pieces will include America the Beautiful, the National Anthem and Philadelphia Pride. Dr. Papadakis will be making remarks along with the Choir’s Executive Director, Anne Hagan.

Remarks and the musical performance will begin promptly at 9:15 a.m. Photography is permitted on the trading floor.



Founded in 1968 and currently under the musical direction of Jeffrey R. Smith, the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale has cultivated a following worldwide as America’s Ambassadors of Song.
Its achievements include world tours and performances for heads of state, recordings with internationally renowned orchestras and praise from critics and audiences around the world.

The Choir, emphasizing the preservation and promotion of American music, provides the finest in musical education and training to talented young boys and men, regardless of ethnic, religious or economic backgrounds.
