NEW YORK, June 11, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of May 31, 2024, short interest in 3,059 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 11,833,288,492 shares compared with 11,646,612,058 shares in 3,063 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of May 15, 2024. The end of May short interest represent 3.54 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.15 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,695 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 2,052,748,548 shares at the end of the settlement date of May 31, 2024 compared with 1,972,813,805 shares in 1,719 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.00 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.61.

In summary, short interest in all 4,754 Nasdaq® securities totaled 13,886,037,040 shares at the May 31, 2024 settlement date, compared with 4,782 issues and 13,619,425,863 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 1.73 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 2.77 days for the previous reporting period.
